Kellie Henkel is deeply committed to professional development. She consistently seeks out the most effective methodologies and works tirelessly to improve her craft. She has spent hundreds of hours working with David Berg, the late founder of the Making Math Real Institute, to deepen and extend her knowledge of the MMR methodology, which continues to set the gold standard for therapeutic Math interventions. As her colleague, I have seen how seriously Kellie takes her responsibility to the families with whom she works!

Kellie has absolutely has been one of the most influential people in my family’s life. She was my toddlers speech therapist. Not only is she an expert at what she does, but her demeanor and care with children is unparalleled. Highly recommended for any learning needs your children or child may have.

I’ve had the unique experience of intersecting with Kellie in two aspects: having had her as my son’s therapist, and as colleagues taking the same Making Math Real courses together over the last few years. She and I took all of the math courses together at least twice, so that speaks volumes about how she dedicates her time to making sure that she learns the methodology deeply to help her clients in the best way possible.
She is an excellent therapist having worked with my son during middle school. My son struggled with reading and spelling, and Kellie helped him tremendously. He could not read a whole page without lots of guessing on the words, and he could only spell phonetically. Now that he’s a freshman in high school, he can read effortlessly – even the difficult words! His spelling has also improved greatly. Kellie is dedicated, kind, and professional, and helps students reach their goals.

Our son needed speech therapy and Kellie Henkel had great reviews, both online and from people we know personally. She started with a thorough assessment, so we knew what specific areas he needed to work on. We sat in on the first couple of sessions to get to know her better. She’s attentive and you can tell she really cares about the kids that she works with. Her space is inviting, full of color, and lots of seating options to help kids feel comfortable. She keeps things friendly and fun with pictures, books, games, and prizes. She keeps parents involved. Before each session, we discuss what she plans on addressing. When we pick him up, we talk about everything they did, so we’re up to date on the progress he’s making. She’s provided us with videos and worksheets so we can continue to help him at home. She works with us on a flexible schedule and she communicates quickly when spots open up. She’s started offering handwriting support too and it’s really helped him improve the neatness of his penmanship. We highly recommend Kellie and Lights on Learning!

All roads led to Kellie for speech and we were so glad she was local! We had fantastic results with weekly sessions for a year prior to 1st grade with Kellie’s support! It has been 5 years and her work still helps and further therapy wasn’t needed as it was very effective!
