  • I cannot say enough positive things about Mrs. Kellie.  My daughter is dyslexic and has ADHD and trying to find a provider who is available and skilled to administer the interventions she needs was a challenge.  Finding Mrs. Kellie was a game changer.  She is knowledgeable, professional, and very responsive to my questions.  Her approach is tailored to meet the needs of my daughter’s challenges, rather than a “blanket approach” which is the case with multiple providers.  Our sessions are conducted via zoom which has been convenient for our busy schedules.   Mrs. Kellie has also been instrumental in helping us advocate for accommodations and implementing learning aids to support our daughter.  Knowing that Mrs. Kellie is a part of our intervention team has been invaluable to us.  I highly recommend her!

  • Kellie Henkel really helped my son, with down syndrome, turned a corner with his speech. When we met, he was just three years old, and had difficulty connecting with the rhythm and routine of our lives. He was often trying to express himself, but was unable to form words and communicate his needs and wants. Despite having participated in speech therapy, we were not seeing much progress. Along came Kellie, and totally flipped this trend on its head. She immediately connected with him, and was able to reward his efforts at speech and communication immediately. This made all the difference. Suddenly, what had become a tiresome chore, became his most loved activity of the week. Kellie is fun and energetic, and really helped him understand the value of communicating, even at his young age. Additionally, Kellie was instrumental in helping us obtain a ‘talker’ device that has been a wonderful tool through his progress in speech and academics. Even after we moved, Kellie provided innovative, teletherapy sessions that he was just as excited to attend as in person. Kellie Henkel really understands what it is to not have a voice and she advocates for her clients in a meaningful way. She helped me, as a parent, understand how I could reinforce good communication and understanding, and she has helped us immeasurably. I have asked for her assistance during the IEP process at school, as well as advice for securing services in our area. I value her opinion above all other professionals we have worked with.

  • We love Kellie as a person and she is the best SLP our son has ever had. Our son has autism and is now 25. Kellie is the only SLP who could get our son to produce sounds at age 4 which led to words. She used the PROMPT method. She also knows how to engage children on the spectrum and keep them focused. She is a lot of fun and would play games with our son that would naturally elicit speech. We love Kellie and can’t give her a high enough recommendation. She loved our son as if he was her own and worked hard to get him to talk. A+++

  • My daughter, now in middle school, loves math because of Kellie.  In fact, it’s not uncommon to have classmates call her in the evening for help with their own math and to hear things like, “What is your picture-maker?” or “What’s the greatest house both of those numbers live in?” Things were rough for years as we navigated learning disabilities and executive function deficits.  She is highly intelligent but could not learn math the way it was being taught in any curriculum.  I initially contacted Kellie to help with fractions, and quickly learned that my daughter’s concept of long division was shaky because she was relying only on procedures that were cognitively intensive and had not been anchored with an authentic understanding of how division worked.  Kellie connected with my daughter and structured each lesson in a way that generated authentic success.  My child learned to trust Kellie and soon found that math didn’t hurt anymore.  I’m so grateful that I found Kellie and listened to her advice.  She understood that the struggles my child experienced were rooted in gaps that needed to be addressed before the next layer of math could be added.  She is thorough, patient, engaging, and in my opinion, one of the top 5 math educators in California.  My daughter’s future shines brightly because of the investment of resources that we made to have this exceptional educator work diagnostically with my child.  Kellie provides clinical, diagnostic math intervention tailor made to the child in front of her and the outcomes are nothing short of miraculous.  Thank you, Kellie, for helping to set my child’s future on a trajectory of endless possibility.

  • I am a homeschooling parent who found Kellie in one of the Dyscalculia groups on social media. I had been looking for an interventionist trained in the Making Math Real Methodology, as I had taken an overview course from David Berg’s Making Math Real Institute and wanted nothing less for our son.  I was in desperate need of intervention for my dyscalculic kid because despite our dedication to a well-recommended, Montessori-inspired, constructivist math program (which we had used for 5 years), my kid still had a shaky foundation in fractions. I recognized it was imperative for my kids success in middle school level math and beyond that we get help; I no longer knew how else to remediate my kid on my own. Kellie met our kid where he was at, and over the next seven months, she has reviewed and re-taught the concept and retrieval of multiplication facts, long division and fractions. It has been gratifying to see my kids’ face light up while working with Kellie, as if the concepts were in his head but the connections not strong and with Kellie, the circuitry finally became intact; yes, the lights were finally “on!” These months with Kellie have been an invaluable commitment and investment for our kid’s Math fluency, and I highly recommend her for your struggling math student.
