Is your child strugling with math?
Multisensory math intervention is essential for a child with a math learning disability such as dyscalculia but is beneficial for all learners. Many children without a learning disability may also
struggle with math because the foundational math skills were never mastered such as multiplication facts or fractions.
Lights On Learning teaches math in a way that is evidence based & multi-sensory. We address the needs of all learners by breaking down all the basic math content into concrete elements as it creates a story based visual imagery through the linkage of manipulatives and informal language.
Math finally becomes a real experience, and the memory load is greatly reduced while instruction gradually moves from concrete to semi-concrete to semi-abstract to abstract. Calculators are not recommended. Throw those calculators away and give your child the gift of authentically mastering essential math skills. Our content covers Kindergarten, Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division, Fractions, Decimals, Advanced Place Value, Money, Time, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, and Algebra.
You don’t want the child to choose a career based on their lack of ability to do math. Don’t let a math disability hold your child back! Using these cutting-edge methods, the child does not need to memorize facts and procedures. Instead, individuals are taught how to activate their picture of what the numbers represent.
Imagine engaging with math independently and successfully! Falling behind in math can be devastating and cause a lot of social emotional shame in a child! Our multi-sensory math methods provide powerful, accelerated learning for students of all ages, grades and abilities!
Building Math Confidence
Children often show signs of failure when they struggle to memorize math facts, or struggle with long division, fractions or prealgebra. Many children struggle memorizing math facts or procedural learning.
Children need to learn math from a concrete body based place of having a firm picture of what the numbers represent. Math needs to be taught in a specific sequence which starts with a strong foundation of number sense, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
If a child is struggling with the foundational skills, they will without a doubt struggle with more complex abstract math like fractions, decimals and algebra! Let’s work together to give your child the strong math foundation they need to access higher level math with ease! Children deserve to authentically learn math and not depend on a calculator or using their fingers.
If you need help identifying your child’s unique needs, we offer private speech, language and educational evaluations which include Independent Education Evaluations which is paid by the public school district if approved. Go to Evaluations page.
Does your child’s IEP have math goals that help your child authentically develop math skills independently without a calculator or number line? Our Advocacy services can help develop a robust IEP with well written math goals!
